Governance

GNA has two modes of operation:

1.  As a grass roots organization, with individuals and groups pursuing agendas to standards set in place at the Nomina workshops. This approach allows GNA to be agile, to adapt to new opportunities, to respond to new needs, and to take advantage of new resources.

2. Through  a Global Names Architecture Advisory Panel or GNAAP.  The group was confirmed at Nomina I in Crete.  The initial composition of GNAAP included representatives of:

  • Algaebase
  • Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen
  • EDIT
  • EOL
  • GBIF
  • Index Fungorum
  • Index Nominum Algarum
  • Index Nominum Genericorum Plantarum
  • Integrated Taxonomic Information System, for COLP
  • International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTVdb)
  • International Plant Names Index
  • List of Prokaryotic Names with Standing in Nomenclature
  • MarBEF PROPE-taxon
  • Species2000, for COL
  • Taxonomic Databases Working Group
  • uBio
  • ZooBank
